Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how PinDex (“PinDex”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the PinDex mobile app. By creating an account and using the app, you agree to this policy.

PinDex is currently in beta. This policy will be updated as features are added ahead of public release.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address, a display name, and a password. We never store your password in readable form — it is hashed and managed by our authentication provider.

Profile information. You may optionally add a username, bio, location, and profile-visibility preferences. Location is a free-text label you type (for example, a city name); PinDex does not access your device’s GPS or precise location.

Your collection content. PinDex stores the pin collection, wishlist, and trade information you enter, including pin names, attributes, notes, valuations, and any photos you upload.

Photos. If you add photos of your pins, those images are uploaded to our storage provider and associated with your account. Adding a photo requires camera or photo-library permission, which you can manage in your device settings.

Technical information. Our backend provider may log limited technical data such as IP address and timestamps for security and abuse prevention. The app also stores preferences (such as your theme choice) locally on your device.

How we use your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How your information is stored

PinDex’s backend — including authentication, database, and photo storage — is provided by Supabase, a third-party infrastructure provider acting as our data processor. Your data is stored on their servers, and access to your collection data is restricted to your account through database security rules.

Some features rely on other third-party services to function — for example, location autocomplete sends the text you type to a mapping service to suggest matches. We share only what a feature needs in order to work.

Sharing and visibility

Other users may see information you choose to make public, such as your username, display name, bio, and the parts of your collection you mark as visible. You control this through the privacy settings in the app. We do not share your personal information with third parties except the service providers needed to operate the app, or where required by law.

Trades and messaging between users are arranged by users themselves; PinDex is not a party to those exchanges.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@swapdrop.app. When an account is deleted, its profile, pins, wishlist, and photos are removed.

Children’s privacy

PinDex is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@swapdrop.app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as PinDex evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
